What is Anchor Text and how can it help my SEO efforts?

May 25, 2010

Anchor text is the visible part or text of a link, as would be the case with “< a href=”http://www.seobusinesssolutions.com/” >This is the anchor text< /a >.” The section in bold would be your anchor text, and the closer the match is to the keywords that you are optimizing for, the more valuable your link becomes. Textual links to your website with relevant anchor text and relevant text on the webpage are some of your most valuable resources when you are trying to optimize for search engines.

Some may think that web directories are no longer relevant in today’s SEO world, but that is not so.  They are still a good source for free, highly relevant, keyword loaded text links to your website.  You can still find tons of free directories, including business directories, that will allow you to submit your website for free.

This is the first in a series of SEO terms which we hope to build into a dictionary or glossary that will help you in your SEO efforts.  If you don’t have the time to conduct a full Search Engine Optimization of your website, do visit SEO Business Solutions and ask for a free SEO report and quote.
